“Welcome to Heart Full of Stories, the new anthology from the Holland Park First Story Writing Group. This is the second year that I have had the honour to be Holland Park’s Writer-in- Residence, coming in each week to help the group to write stories and put together this anthology. This year I had a fully new contingent of writers, with some of last year’s dropping in to see us. How very big and grand they seem, a year on!”

Later Lucky was being aggressive and naughty so he was tied to the tree, while I was playing stone toys with my friend. It’s a game of animals’ ankle bones that look like different animals – horse, cow and goat – and we would have battles with it. It was so interesting and fun that I lost my focus on Lucky. As I stood up I heard a car screech loudly, which hurt my ears. I looked ahead: there was a man covering his daughter’s eyes. In front of them was a white car. I was wondering what had happened and took one step forward, nearer…
