Duchess’s Bookshelves Competition

Get involved – select your favourite books to give HRH The Duchess of Cornwall!

In celebration of HRH The Duchess of Cornwall’s 70th birthday in July, First Story are delighted to be working in partnership with the National Literacy Trust, BookTrust, Roald Dahl, the Wicked Young Writer Awards and Beanstalk to present the Duchess’s Bookshelves. HRH The Duchess of Cornwall is a prominent advocate for children’s literacy, and First Story is proud to have her as our Patron. In recognition and celebration of her support, Her Royal Highness will be presented with a set of bookshelves filled with 70 beloved works of children’s literature as a birthday gift.

As Her Royal Highness has helped so many young people to discover a love of reading, we want to share their favourite books with her – and we need your help to choose them!

How do I get involved?

If you’re a teacher, we would like you to encourage every class in your school to choose their favourite book, which will then be considered for the selection of titles to be presented to HRH The Duchess of Cornwall. Your school will then be entered into a prize draw in which you could win:

  • The chance for two pupils from your school to present the bookshelves and selected books to HRH at her birthday celebrations.
  • A set of the same bookshelves and books for your school.

For free resources and details on how to enter the Duchess’ Bookshelves competition, read more here and register for entry by Friday 16th June.
