Volunteer for the First Story Young Writers’ Festival!

We are seeking eager volunteers to help us with our First Story Young Writers Festival on Tuesday 19th September 2017 at Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford.

How can I help?
Volunteers are essential to the success of our festival. Our volunteers help us with a great variety of tasks such as welcoming schools, accompanying students through campus, selling books, assisting at books signings, and more. We also give you the chance to participate in a writing workshop and listen to the talks, so don’t miss this opportunity!

What is the Festival?
The event will bring together 500 students from First Story schools across the country for a day of creative-writing workshops, talks and performances. The young writers will have the opportunity to participate in a range of activities, from intimate writing sessions to energy-fuelled poetry slams, and interact with over 20 published writers. In the past we have had acclaimed writers such as Philip Pullman, Malorie Blackman, Patrick Ness, Mark Haddon, Naomi Alderman headlining the festival.

Where can I sign up?
We’ll send more details closer to the date, but in the first instance, we’re just looking for interested volunteers who could be in Oxford from 9am to 5.30pm (timings tbc).
Breakfast and lunch will be provided for volunteers.
Please note, volunteers must be 18+

If you’d like to join the fun, please contact First Story’s Operations Assistant Sophie Lloyd-Catchpole on sophie.lloyd@firststory.org.uk
