Jane Chambers, Head of Development

Jane joined First Story from the National Portrait Gallery where she led the corporate sponsorship team for five years. Prior to that she was the Regional Director for Arts & Business south east. Jane is passionate about engaging business with arts and culture and loves creating partnerships. Jane studied arts management and management consulting. She also has a Master’s degree in Design and is a practising artist, exhibiting her ceramic sculpture in the UK and internationally; she has even been shortlisted for a few prizes. Jane sees writing as a part of her artistic practice.

Jane enjoys running, seeing exhibitions, going to the theatre and cinema – and  of course, reading. Her current favourite books are Midnight’s Children by Salman Rushdie, The English Passengers by Matthew Kneale and The Narrow Road to the Deep North by Richard Flanagan.
