Cathy Allen, Executive Assistant

Cathy worked in the corporate legal sector before qualifying as a psychotherapist and moving to a bereavement counselling service. Away from First Story she runs her private practice, counsels university students and volunteers for Saneline. She also loves going to the movies in the afternoon, wandering around galleries and ferreting out fringe theatre productions.

Adhering to the Chinese proverb: “a book is like a garden in your pocket”, she is passionate about encouraging children to dive into the wonder of words and images and find ways to express their own inner worlds She believes the paperback to be the best invention ever (discuss) and amongst those which reveal something new every time she would include Jane Eyre, A Confederacy of Dunces and Crime and Punishment. She’s currently reading a biography of Dante, which is as much of a surprise to her as it will be to you.
