Scarlet Brearley, Partnerships & Projects Assistant

Scarlet studied English and American Studies at the University of Nottingham, yet controversially decided to do a year abroad in Canada; feel free to ask her about anything Canada related (so long as you’re prepared for a lengthy conversation). She joined First Story after previously having worked for a literature festival where she helped to research and create events, and now she helps to coordinate the Young Writers Festival, National Writing Day, Summer Residential Programme amongst many other exciting First Story projects.

Scarlet considers herself something of a coffee connoisseur, since she’s usually seen with one in her hand, and of course a book in the other! Her favourite books include Haruki Murakami’s Colourless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage and Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights as an ode to her Bradfordian roots.
