Editorial Officer – £22,000 (pro-rated to £7,333 for the full time, four-month contract)

We are looking for a highly motivated, highly organised and enthusiastic Editorial Officer who is committed to First Story’s vision. This position offers the opportunity to take a leading role in First Story’s publication schedule.

Regional Programme Manager, East Midlands – from £25,000 pro-rata (£20,000 per annum for 4 days per week) 

We are looking for an experienced Programme Manager, based in the East Midlands, who is committed to First Story’s vision. This role will manage the schools programme delivery and recruitment of new schools, and support the strategic development of the organisation across all our regions.

Executive Assistant – £22,000 pro-rata (£13,200 per annum for 3 days per week) 

We are looking to recruit an experienced Executive Assistant, initially for a fixed, grant-funded 6-month period leading up to the launch of our advocacy project, National Writing Day, with the potential for extension beyond 6 months. This is a fantastic role for someone who has worked in the business sector looking for a change of sector and the opportunity to contribute to a vibrant, fast-paced charity.

  • Volunteer at our Head Office in London (throughout the year):
    • Proof reading (January-July)
    • Copy editing (January-July)

    • Data entry
    • Programme evaluation
    • IT assistance
    • Or let us know what skills you can bring to us!
  • Volunteer at our Young Writers’ Festival (each September)
  • Offer your services, for example publishing our anthologies, giving PR advice or hosting an event or meeting (throughout the year)
